What to Expect

  • This is one of the most reliable and least expensive tests for PAD and is non-invasive.

Preparation for the Procedure

  • The patient should wear loose fitting clothing.

Testing Procedure

  • The patient lies on their back and blood pressure cuffs are placed around the patients ankles and arms.
  • The cuffs are inflated and then deflated.
  • After the cuffs are deflated an utlrasound technician uses an ultrasound device, called a doppler, to measure blood pressure.
  • You may experience mild discomfort while the blood pressure cuffs are inflated.
